Tony Thomas Gets Awards






Tony Thomas, Jr. was recognized at both the national and conference level on Monday, April 2 for his efforts this past week as top-ranked Florida State posted a 3-1 record including a series victory at Duke in the Seminoles first road series of the season.

Thomas had a career week as he hit .579 in four games going 11-for-19 with five home runs, five singles and a double. The junior second baseman scored nine times and registered 8 RBI's, while going a perfect 4-for-4 in the stolen base category. He also tallied 27 total bases, slugged 1.421 and was perfect in the field converting on all 16 opportunities at second base last week.

The Valrico, Fla., native feasted on Duke pitching over the weekend as he hit .643 (9-for-14) with five home runs, eight runs scored and eight RBI's. Thomas posted career-highs with two home runs and nine total bases in game one as he slugged 2.250 on Friday night in Durham. In game one, Thomas hit back-to-back home runs in his first two at-bats as he saw just three pitches.
