Coker Haunted By Fight And Nagurski Nominee





Larry Coker, former head coach for the Hurricanes, admits that the brawl between the Hurricanes and FIU has impacted his getting another football job. "The image that created was a big thing," he told Jorge Milian of the Palm Beach Post. "I'm going to have to remove myself from this incident with FIU. It takes time."

North Carolina State Wolfpack and Nevada Wolf Pack officials are planning to meet via conference call this week on issues regarding infringement of similar logos. N.C. State trademarked its logo, "Toughie," in 1984, but Nevada officials say its logo dates to the 1950s. By the way, the logos are almost identical.

Amid the discussions about where the University of Miami will play its football games, Greg Cote of The Miami herald says the following,"At the Orange Bowl, UM is king. At Dolphin Stadium, UM would be the third tenant, after the namesake NFL club and the calendar-dominating Marlins."

University of Maryland linebacker Erin Henderson was named to the preseason watch list for the 2007 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Tuesday in an announcement by the Football Writers Association of America.

The Nagurski Trophy is awarded to the best defensive player in college football and is sponsored by the Charlotte Touchdown Club.
