FSU-UNC Asheville Series Begins Today

Game Time: 5:00 PM

Bryan Henry looks to get his second straight Friday start of the 2007 season in game one of the UNC Asheville series. Last year against the Bulldogs, Henry was dominant as he pitched Florida State to a 10-0 win in the series opener. The right hander worked seven innings and did not issue a walk while fanning nine Bulldog hitters.

Asheville will start junior right-hander Alan DeRatt on Friday. DeRatt went 8-5 a year ago with a 4.77 ERA.

There's a lot of optimism in the air for this year's UNC Asheville team. The Bulldogs won their first ever Big South Conference championship in 2006 and advanced to their first NCAA Regional at Clemson. Asheville finished with a 28-35 overall record last season but returns most of its key players from 2006. The Bulldogs return eight starters and the majority of their pitching from last year.
