All-America, National and ACC Player of the Year candidate Al Thornton was named the co-national player of the week for averaging a near double-double of 24.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in the Seminoles' victories over Maryland and No. 8/10 Duke. Thornton shared the honor with Iowa's Adam Haluska.
