FSU-Miss. State Scouting Report

Mississippi State has pushed its home record to 15-3 with six consecutive victories at Humphrey Coliseum. The undersized but skilled Bulldogs rolled to a 101-72 win over Bradley on Saturday. They have scored at least 80 points in four of their past five games, boosting their season average to 77.1 points per game.

All-SEC sophomore guard Jamont Gordon fills up the stat sheet for Mississippi State, averaging 16.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. He’s powerfully built at 6 feet, 4 inches and 225 pounds. A shade under 6-8 is junior center Charles Rhodes, who averages 13.8 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Rhodes is Mississippi State’s only starter taller than 6-4. But Dietric Slater (10 ppg.), Reginald Delk (9.9 ppg.), Barry Stewart (9.8 ppg.) and Ben Hansbrough (7.3 ppg.) – the younger brother of North Carolina star Tyler Hansbrough – are also scoring options in Rick Stansbury’s up-tempo attack.

They lead the SEC with 6.5 blocked shots per game and rank first in field-goal defense at 40.1 percent.
